What should I expect on my visit?

Your first visit will last approximately 60 minutes and will include reviewing your personal questionnaire together, going over your health history, relevant examinations including traditional tongue and pulse diagnosis and creating a treatment plan. We also prescribe herbal treatments as necessary to complement therapy. In more complex cases it's likely we will need to schedule an herbal consultation in order to get more information on your health history.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture is the insertion of hair-thin needles into specific points on the body, avoiding all vessels and moving quickly through the superficial skin, thus avoiding pain. Occasionally you will feel a heavy or achy sensation around the needle or even a twitching muscle, but if there is any discomfort, please let us know so we can make you comfortable. Most patients deeply relax and often fall asleep.
